Six Weeks

All clean and ready for bed! Cole enjoyed a nice warm bath after our ritual evening walk on the Lakewalk....or attempted walk on the Lakewalk. Once again, we arrived in Canal Park and were reminded of how drastic the temperature differences can be there. We ended up going to the Munger Trail instead. Ahhh....much warmer.

Weekend Fun

We had a great weekend! It really felt good to get out and about. On friday the three of us went to the lakewalk and then Sir Benedicts. We did have to leave, however, when the single guy playing acoustic guitar got too loud for Cole's ears. What?! He had an amplifier! Saturday after a walk in the 62 degree heat (yeah, you read that right) we went out with some friends from Cole's future preschool for parents night out - grandma and grandpa Sharrow took him for a few hours. Topping this busy weekend off was a surprise visit to G/G Iverson's for church and lunch down in forest lake (looong day). Em and I are ready to sleep till next weekend! Have a great week everyone!

Five weeks

We got Cole all bundled up for a walk on the Lakewalk again today....only to get down there and find it was WAY too cold to walk today. Poor Bailey, we got him all excited for a walk and then almost immediately put him back in the car again. I guess spring is not here quite yet -- but isn't it officially spring tomorrow?

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Our little leprechaun remembered to wear green on Saturday (when he finally decided to get dressed)! We spent the weekend with Cole's Grandpa and Grandma Sharrow, Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma Truedson, second cousins, and great aunts and uncles. Cole also enjoyed a lazy morning in bed with dad (believe us, our short nights entitle us to a few lazy mornings!)....too bad these precious moments won't last forever!

One month!!

Today is Cole's one month birthday! He must know it too, because he was so excited (AKA gassy) last night in anticipation of the big day that none of us got any sleep! His parents, although doubtful of their ability to parent a child, have successfully kept Cole alive for four consecutive weeks....making them think that they may be more competent than they previously thought! We even have gotten out of the house together (without Cole) twice in the past week: once to see Charlie Parr and Trampled by Turtles at Pizza Luce, and once to go for a much-needed walk on the Lakewalk in effort to start shedding some unwanted baby weight. Fortunately for us, Cole is blessed with two sets of enthusiastic grandparents who were eager to babysit. This picture was taken on the Lakewalk today, in the 62 degree heat!! Not much trace of that blizzard left.

Park Point Madness

Despite not being plowed out yet, our whole little family got out Sat. afternoon with a little help from my parents. My dad and I were going to shovel off the boat/snowshoe down park point, and my mom and Em were going to the mall. They picked us up at the bottom of the street - we were quite a sight, let me tell you! Em, me, Cole, Bailey, my snowshoe/hiking gear, stroller, diaper bag, and car seat/base limping down our snow choked road at a snail's pace. Do I need to tell you just how desperate we were to get out of the house? Park point was like a disaster zone, but beautiful at the same time (probably because we don't live down there). After all of that fun, we went to Little Angies Cantina for dinner. We subsequently found out that Em eating mexican food keeps us up all night while Cole grunts, cries, and passes gas. No more spicy food says I. Thanks for checking in!

Snowed in!!

Duluth is paralyzed again today, with a total of 20 inches of snow in the last 24 hours and almost three feet in the last week. I spent 3 hours shoveling, and did go to work for an hour or so - I snowshoed to a patient's house! I could have rescheduled for next week, but how often do you get to say that you snowshoed to work? Bailey also got his picture posted on the Duluth News Tribune website (http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/). There are some crazy pictures on the website of conditions on park point - it's still cordoned off to all but emergency and snow removal vehicles! Again, really glad Cole didn't decide to be born during this storm... gotta go, I'm making a coconut phone to talk to the neighbors.

Winter wonderland?

March 1, 2007 was supposed to be Cole's birthday - good thing he came early, because Duluth is SHUT DOWN today! Snow falling 3 inches per hour, winds sustained at 45 mph gusting to 59 mph, I-35 and park point shut down, drifts approaching 20 feet tall on park point, and did I mention the snow plows have been recalled due to zero visibility conditions? I'm glad I didn't need to do the frantic father-to-be drive in these conditions!! Cole would have been born in the back seat of a Jeep stuck in a snowbank!
